The purpose of Lichess is to provide a minimalist Chess game. I love the simple interface and the use of the minimal color palette no doubt inspired from the very noir nature of the game itself. The simplicity continues through from form to function as the game requires no registration. You don’t need to create an account. Just enter the URL in your browser and you’re good to go. It requires no Flash and can be run from any modern web browser.
